The grey tinted body has a faceted neck, large thumbnail cutting and a star cut base. The neck has a sterling silver collar with a Betjemen patent lock attached. The stopper has a sterling silver collar with a hinged catch which turns with a bayonet fitting and slots into the lock. Just turn the key to unlock the decanter. Condition: This useful bottle is in good condition with no signs of restoration.
The glass is generally in good order there is a very tiny chip and some fritty marks on the stopper just above the silver collar. The silver has several very small dinks around the lock and where the catch is secured (general wear and tear) and there is a scratch across the lock plate. The key is not original, it unlocks simply by turning the key (which moves the lever to the right and releases the catch) however the action is very clumsy. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
