This superb vintage decanter is a fine example of the craftsmanship of long ago. The decanter has a superb design, it is beautifully cut with very deep shards , diamonds, and ribbing, I have added a close up photograph. The Mallet stopper is beautiful in its own right, I have tried to show that it has a cut design that is also on the edge of the stopper. 15.5 cm tall including the stopper x 13 cm wide at the widest point. It weighs 1.620 grms! It is in excellent condition, no chips to either the neck of the decanter or the stopper.
The fine crystal is superior. If you have other beautiful crystal decanters displayed, it would surely add to the charm. A touch of the past with this unusual exquisite rare Richardson decanter, it will appeal to the connoisseur of Vintage fine crystal. It is the acid backstamp showing the Union Flag which shows this to be a circa 1920 piece - it would seem that their mark incorporating the flag started some time in the 1920's. In 1828, Benjamin Richardson joined the Wordsley Flint Glass Works, run by George and Charles Wainwright. Benjamin Richardson is reputed to have invented the method of etching on flint and table glass using acid. I sell to World wide please contact me for postal cost.
